kidulthood – theme study

This is the second film to add too my theme study.

British drama follows a day in the lives of four poor youths living in an impoverished neighborhood in West London, where the pressure and desperation of poverty propels each of them towards the choice between a life of bleakness, violence, and crime, and the terrifying prospect of striving for a better life.

This reads like the back cover blurb my man.

The main thing you need to think about is how it helps you to understand your chosen theme better. Does it reinforce your ideas, or does it teach you something new. Are the situations stereotyped for the purposes of entertainment or are they authentic. How does the treatment of the theme in this film compare to the other texts you’ve seen or read?

Your presentation on Thursday will be assessed on your delivery. You’re a confident, charismatic speaker when you know what you’re talking about so the main thing now is to focus on the texts you have read that you are sure of and build some clear points you can make to introduce them to us.

Remember you can use a powerpoint if you want to, and you can have cue cards – but you cannot write the whole thing out and then read it to the group.

Let me know if you want any help with developing the presentation or practicing your delivery of it. In the end the delivery is what is marked.
